Join us at our open day to celebrate the Cousins Family – Hiamoe Farm, Horizons' Regional Supreme Winner!
Come along and see how the Cousins family have developed a farm that is both environmentally and economically sustainable.
Topics covered include
- The Cousins Family business – history of the farm, how they structure and successfully run the farming operations and how they make important business decisions.
- The ‘Engine Room’ of Hiamoe Farm – how stock classes and land use have changed over time, and the role of diversification. See the QEII block and a great view of the farm. Also hear from Guest Speaker Martin Walsh, who has challenged Hiamoe Farm’s thinking over the years.
- Integration of trees – have a look at plantings of manuka, pines and long-standing poplar trials. Forest360 will cover your questions on the ETS and how they advise Hiamoe Farm around best management of forestry harvest and replanting. Horizons will also be presenting on their involvement with Hiamoe Farm.
