Maximising Hill Country productivity through strategic fertiliser usage
Join us for an introduction to Bevan Proffit and his farm, where we’ll dive into what we’re aiming to achieve, take a guided tour of the property, and finish the day with refreshments and a BBQ.
Hub Farms are all about bringing farmers together to connect, share ideas, and tackle regional challenges. They provide a unique chance to follow a real farm business as it navigates change, helping you see first-hand how decisions play out over time and translating those insights into practical strategies for your own farm.
We will focus on three key goals over the three-year duration of the Hub Farm:
- To increase meat production (Kg CW/Ha) by 5 kg/Ha per year. Currently 126, goal is to get 140 by the end of 2027.
- 60% of lambs (70% terminal and 50% maternal) sold store at or above 27kg by mid December each year.
- Increase and maintain ewe body condition score of at least 3 for 90% of the flock by the end of 2027.
Quad bikes or side-by-sides will be required for the farm tour. B+LNZ require all attendees to wear helmets.
