The sheep poo study is part of the wider Eliminating Facial Eczema Impacts (EFEI) Programme, jointly funded by B+LNZ, the Government through the Ministry for Primary Industries Sustainable Food and Fibre Futures fund, and the primary sector.
This study is in year two of three and is aiming to understand where the fungus associated with FE is found in NZ, document the level of FE outbreaks over the three years, consider possible risk factors of FE that we don’t already know about, and use the data to develop a predictive model for FE.
The study is supported by Awanui Veterinary, Ingenum Limited, Massey University, and the Metservice.
Listen to B+LNZ's Cara Brosnahan and Ginny Dodunski talk about the early insights for years one and two, and answer questions about FE in the Q+A session.
