The Agri-Women’s Development Trust’s (AWDT) popular ‘Know Your Mindset. Do what Matters’ programme continues to train farmers, growers and other rural people to manage pressure and navigate change. Registrations are now open for June programmes.
As proud partners of Agri-Women’s Development Trust (AWDT), Beef + Lamb New Zealand (B+LNZ) is excited that registrations are open for the ‘Know Your Mindset. Do what Matters’ programme and encourages you to get involved.
The first ‘Know Your Mindset. Do what Matters’ programmes start on 7 June and 9 June. Attendees will learn how to manage multiple pressures calmly and clearly, prioritise the wellbeing of themselves, families, farms and communities and build realistic action plans – big or small.
The two-part online training features a mix of practical psychology lessons, personal stories and facilitated breakout spaces.
Past programme participants reported a range of practical changes in their lives. These included more honest farm succession conversations, better family relationships, more time for personal wellbeing or improvements to team culture. 96% of participants expected to use the tools and training learnt during the programme in their personal life, family, business or community.
B+LNZ Farmer Council Chair and Wairarapa farmer and Paul Crick said the programme helped him realise that “there are some things outside of my control, but one thing I can control is being a great employer - so I focus on building trust and understanding everyone’s communication style and pressure points”.

About AWDT
The Agri-Women’s Development Trust empowers women to accelerate progress and change in New Zealand’s primary sector and rural communities, from the farm to the boardroom.
With support from industry partners, AWDT researches, designs and delivers programmes and events that equip women and some men with the mindsets, skillsets and connections to lead positive change in their farming businesses, communities and organisations.
AWDT takes a wide and inclusive approach to development with participants coming from across the primary industries including dairy, red meat, horticulture, arable, wool, wine and honey – across the value chain.
Beginning with 11 participants in 2010, the trust now sees almost 1,000 people per year participate in its programmes, which range in duration from a few hours to ten months.
Graduates are increasing their own farm sustainability, productivity and profitability and leading regional initiatives with positive economic and environmental impacts. Others are sitting at the decision-making table in governance roles and leading within industry organisations, companies, Māori agribusiness and rural communities.
Programmes are delivered by a team of expert facilitators – farmers, rural professionals, psychologists and coaches – who deeply understand the primary sector and the world farmers and growers live and do business in.
B+LNZ is proud to partner with AWDT amongst other industry organisations.
