Beef + Lamb New Zealand (B+LNZ) has appointed Glen McDonald as an Associate Director to its board, commencing 1 November.
McDonald runs a 1,176 hectare sheep and beef farm in Roxburgh, Central Otago.
Passionate about the sector, he has held various board and treasury roles within his community and was a lead farmer in the Red Meat Profit Partnership (RMPP) programme.
“Through the Associate Director role, I am looking to gain further skills and experience so I can serve the red meat and fibre sectors that have been a huge part of my life,” says McDonald.
The Associate Director role is for a one-year term and was established to give aspiring leaders in the agricultural sector the chance to observe and participate in governance.
B+LNZ Chairman Andrew Morrison says McDonald will be a valued addition to the team.
“Glen will bring a mix of hands-on farming experience coupled with a deep passion for rural communities.
“It is fantastic to see with all of the challenges being faced in the sector currently, that we have great young leaders looking to step up and help in the governance of our sector.
“Glen has joined seven other hands-on farmers on B+LNZ’s board and we are looking forward to working with him.”
McDonald joins a board of six farmer-elected directors, two meat industry-appointed directors and one independent director.
