Surfing for Farmers season starts soon
Surfing for Farmers is back, offering farmers a chance to take a break from farm life and recharge with surf therapy. With events at 25 beaches nationwide, the programme provides free equipment and coaching, creating a space for farmers to come together and unwind. Event locations and dates can be found on the Surfing for Farmers Facebook page or website. B+LNZ is a supporter of Surfing for Farmers.
Farm Business Benchmarking Group
A group of Waikato/King Country sheep and beef farmers are seeking some more members to join their discussion group. The purpose of the group is to help each individual farm achieve their goals. The group meets 5 times each year, using Farmax to benchmark physical and financial performance for all group members to guide discussion of the strengths and opportunities. We are seeking new members who are up for change, are happy to give and receive advice, and looking to network with a progressive group of farmers. For more information contact Steven Howarth (facilitator) on steven.howarth@agfirst.co.nz or 027 557 0829) or Matt Buckley (lead farmer) on 027 231 8088.
Whenua Haumanu open day: 9am, Thursday 21 November
Massey University’s Whenua Haumanu project is the most comprehensive research programme investigating pastoral agriculture, including regenerative management, in New Zealand. The programme has been running for just over two years and they are holding an open field day to showcase their activities. This is a free event, being held on Massey University farms near the university campus in Palmerston North. The day will be split in two with a focus on the dairy farm research in the morning and the sheep farm research in the afternoon. B+LNZ is a partner in this initiative. Find out more here.
