Announcement of proposed changes to the Biosecurity Act
B+LNZ acknowledges the announcement of proposed changes to the Biosecurity Act and will be preparing a submission on behalf of the sector. The sheep and beef industry invests significant resources into biosecurity and the proposed changes may have important implications for the primary sector, including for any arrangements negotiated with the Government in future under the Government and Industry Agreements (GIA) on biosecurity readiness and response. We will be seeking to ensure that any changes meet the needs of our farmers and are fair to all while maintaining the highest level of New Zealand biosecurity. We will update you on the proposed changes and what they may mean for the sector.
