B+LNZ appoints CE

In case you missed it, B+LNZ has appointed a new CE, Alan Thomson. Alan will be starting on the 4 November, until that time Cros Spooner will remain as Acting CE. The board and staff want to extend their thanks to Cros for holding down the fort while recruitment was underway. Read more about Alan in our media release.

Last chance: Sheep Poo Study starts soon

Register today to join B+LNZ's sheep poo study to help us understand the spread of facial eczema (FE) in New Zealand. Farmers do not need to have had FE on their farms to take part. As a participant, you'll receive free FE spore counts, access to an online map showing spore detection across the country, and opportunities to connect with other farmers through a WhatsApp group and webinars. Register your expression of interest here.

Help keep our farms safe - complete the survey

As part of our commitment to farm safety, we're working with Safer Farms to understand the challenges and needs of sheep and beef farmers. Help ensure every farmer returns home safely by completing this short quad bike safety survey.

Last chance: apply for Rural Leadership Advancement Scholarship

Applications close at 5pm, Monday 7 October for the B+LNZ Rural Leadership Advancement Scholarship. As part of this initiative, B+LNZ is offering two scholarships for livestock farmers to join the 2025 Kellogg Rural Leadership Programme and includes a tailored mentoring programme to support their on-farm leadership. Learn more and apply on B+LNZ’s website here.
